After a long break, let me introduce another four products under the KinabaluGreen range of natural products. Two of them are glycerin based while another two are based on Lye (Na-OH- sodium hydroxide ).
Sea Cucumber SoapIn the first place, Sea Cucumber is not a veggie but a sea creature found on sea bed around the world!
It is called namako (海鼠) in Japan, hai shen -which translates roughly into “sea ginseng” in China,Gamat in Malay and Teripang in Indonesia.Considered halal in Muslim countries and can be consumed or use products based on it by any Muslims without any hesitation.
To name some of the health benefits of Sea Cucumber on our skin-
1.It is suitable for treating minor wounds, wounds that are slow to heal and skin ulcers.
2.It speeds up the healing process and results in cosmetic improvements for scarring.Act as a moisturizer for dry and cracking skin, and restores a pleasant, soft and supple feeling to the skin.
Sea Cucumber Soap comes in two indifferent varieties…with Peppermint Essential Oil and with Lavender Essential Oil.
i) Sea Cucumber Soap with Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint Essential Oil-Peppermint essential oil is considered by aromatherapists as one of the more indispensable essential oils.
The main constituent of peppermint is menthol, a potent chemical unto itself which causes a quick physical response when inhaled or applied the skin. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness which the body reacts to by producing its own warming effect, with as blood flowing to the area of application. This physical sensation is responsible for peppermint’s long history of use as medicine.
On the skin, peppermint oil is used to relieve skin irritation and itchiness and also helps to reduce skin redness, where inflammation is present. It is used for dermatitis, acne, ringworm, scabies and relieves itching, sunburn and inflammation of the skin, while at the same time having a cooling action.
ii)Sea Cucumber Soap with Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender Essential Oil-The health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to remove nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect scalp and skin, enhance blood circulation and treat respiratory problems. Lavender has the Latin name Lavare, which means “to wash”, due to its aroma that gives the feeling of a clean aroma.
Lavender essential oil is highly regarded for its relaxing effect on the nervous system, with an overall balancing effect on the mind and the emotions. Besides being versatile, its lightly floral and soothing scent is one that most people find appealing, and is often used as a perfume.
Lavender Essential Oil also noted for its ability to promote tissue regeneration and speed wound healing in some cases.
Now we come to the next two types of soaps which are based on Lye (Na-OH- sodium hydroxide)–Turmeric Soap and Oat Soap.
Turmeric Soap – Turmeric (Curcuma longa) has been used for 4,000 years to treat a variety of ailments, especially in India. Also known as “Indian Saffron”, the aroma, too, is simply wonderful.Curcumin which is an active compound in turmeric is responsible for many of turmeric benefits.
Why we should use Turmeric based soaps?:
1.Turmeric is natural antiseptic and anti-bacterial agent useful for disinfecting cuts and burns.
2.Turmeric is high in antioxidants that slow down cell damage.
3.It’s widely used as a skin exfoliant and it’s said to improve your skin’s complexion, texture and health
4.In many Asian countries, turmeric paste is used by women for skin care, particularly to discourage facial and body hair.
5.Turmeric is also used to help with inflammatory skin conditions, such as acne, dry skin, psoriasis and eczema.
Oats Soap– Oats possess some wonderful skin care properties because they have the best amino acid balance of all cereal grains and a high silica content, making them great emollients that restores the skin’s natural moisture.
Please consider these facts for the health of your skin:
1.Oats are said to be highly absorptive, hypoallergenic, and can be used to cleanse, exfoliate, soften and soothe the skin; suitable for most skin types.
2.In fact, oats have been clinically proven to help heal dry, itchy skin and you may have come across information of ancient Greeks and Romans using oat baths to heal skin ailments.
3.Many people use oats to soothe the skin and ease the discomfort of skin irritations caused by rashes, abrasions, insect bites, poison ivy, and even chicken pox.
4.Oats are also an amazing natural beauty enhancer. They soothe and heal the skin, while reducing inflammation. Inflammation is one of the number one causes of premature aging, and while it all starts on the inside, reducing outer inflammation is also necessary for gorgeously radiant skin.
5.Because oats are slightly rough, they are one of nature’s most amazing exfoliates. They soften the skin, making it super-duper silky smooth. Oats have actually been clinically shown to help heal dry, itchy skin.
6.Oats can also soothe chicken pox, mosquito bites, and dry skin (caused by excessive central heating, pollution etc.)
They soothe mild burns, any type of irritated skin.
